Theme:- Elected and saved by Grace
Text:- But when the fullness of time was come God sent forth his Son, made of woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law that me might receive the adoption of Son of God (Galatians 4:4 & 5)
Mankind had far gone in sin and rebellion against God that it became impossible to redeem self. Only the grace of God can extricate mankind from the quagmire it found itself. So at the appropriate time, God sent his Son Jesus Christ, born of woman and under the law to redeem us from the curse of the law (Galatians 4:4 & 5). Therefore, it is by grace (unmerited favour) that we were called and saved from eternal damnation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not because of any good work done by us. This is a free gift from God to mankind in order that no one would have any ground for boasting (Ephesians 2:8). Through the grace of redemption in the Lord Jesus Christ given to us, we have been given much, and much is expected of us.
As elected and saved people, the responsibility of being a royal Priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people of God and the proclaimers of the praises of God, who through his Son Jesus Christ, redeemed us from darkness into his marvelous light, is conferred on us (1 Peter. 2:9). Our being Christians should out of gratitude to God, lead us to serve others with kindness, love and mercy, with special concern for how to win them over for the Lord Jesus Christ in order that they too will experience salvation in Christ as we too have experienced. The almighty God who called us into his marvelous light to proclaim his glory to the world has equipped the individual Christian with the spiritual gifts that will enable the individual Christian to do exploits for him, and thereby extend the frontiers of the kingdom of God.
We all need to work for the promotion of the gospel with all the gifts and material resources God has endow us with so that the grace given to us will not be in vain.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see
‘I was grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
