Text: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great  and mighty things which thou knowest not”  Jer. 33:3

The greatest power any Christian should have is the power of prayer. It does not matter if one fails to have power to order men or to buy or acquire material things. In as much one has the power of prayer, things will fall in line and God will move the hands of men in one’s favour. Those with the power of prayer do exploits for God. Prayer propels the work of God, paralyses Satan and his demons and assures one victory in life. To be prayerful is to be powerful.

In our focal passage, Jeremiah 33:3, God assures the Prophet, that he only had to call on Him for assistance and would answer. This assurance came to the Prophet while he was still in conferment in the courtyard of the guard in the Royal Palace of Judah. What God was saying to Jeremiah was that He was God who could reveal to him, secret, great and unsearchable things. He was God who could deliver him and as well do great things for him. All he needed was to call to Him.

Beloved, God is always ready to answer our prayers but He wants’ us to ask for His assistance. Surely, God could take care of our needs, do great and wonderful things in our lives, and empowers us to do exploit for him without our asking. But when we ask we are acknowledging that He alone is God and we cannot accomplish anything without Him. When we ask he hears us and grant us our requests because He always fulfill His words:

“Call upon Me in the days of trouble; I will deliver you” (Psalm 50:15). “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door shall be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7)
