Bible Readings: Genesis 12, Matthew 8:5-10
“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented’. And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him’. The Centurion answered and said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed’. When Jesus heard it, He marvelled….” (Matthew 8:5-,10).
One of the most important ingredients needed by us as Christians to move the hands of God is faith. Unfortunately, many of us instead of having faith in God and in His power to do all things, we doubt and this limits his involvement in our issues. The bible records it that Jesus did not do much miracle in His home-town because of their unbelief.
In our Old Testament reading, Abraham became a friend of God and father of faith because of his faith in the word of God and the steps of faith he took when he was called by God to go into the unknown land.
In the New Testament, Jesus marvelled at the faith displayed by the centurion, in that His (Christ) words carry the same power as His presence. From this reason he asked Jesus to just speak His word and his servant who was paralyzed and dreadfully tormented would be made whole.
Beloved, when was the last time your faith caused Jesus to marvel? Do you have faith in Christ’s words as contained in the gospel? Are you not a doubter of God’s power and words?
Have faith, faith never doubts or worries. Faith always rest in trust and confidence in the one in whom one has faith?
