Text:  And through Him to reconcile to Himself whether things on earth or things in heaven by making peace through His bloodshed on the Cross (Col. 1:20 NIV).

The Church in Colosse, like some other Churches during the apostolic era, was faced with the problem of heresy.  The heretical teachers who emerged among the Christians in Colosse taught that for believers in Christ to attain Spiritual perfection, they have to obtain a secret knowledge which was only available to a privileged few.  It was this disturbing development in the Church in Colosse that made Paul to write the Epistle to the Colossians, not only to refute the heretical teachings but also to present to them who Christ is, His nature, power and greatness, as it is not what we know that makes us Christians, but rather whom (Jesus Christ) we know as our knowledge is imperfect (I Cor. 13:9)

Jesus Christ is the God incarnate.  He is the very image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature (Col. 2:15). It was through Him everything on earth and in heaven was created (Col. 1:17). He is the Alpha and Omega, the righteous Judge (Rev. 1:7-8) He has by His death on the cross made us fit to be part of His eternal kingdom (Eph. 1:5-6; 2 Cor. 5:21; Col. 1:13; John 14:6), rescued us from the dominion of Satan and made us His children (I Pet. 2:9); brought us freedom from our sins and judgement by forgiving our sins (Heb. 9:12; Eph. 1:7).

In view of all this, to whom, then shall we go for our salvation, succour, strength, revival and blessing (John 6:37)?

The name of Jesus is the only name given to us by whom we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Let us therefore not hesitate to come to Him, as He is always ready to accept anyone who comes to Him.  He stands at the door of our hearts seeking to enter.  (Rev. 3:20).

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you full trusting in His grace this hour?

Ref:  Are you washed in the blood?

In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb

Are your garments spotless?

Are they white as snow?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
