Text: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7.
We live in a world full of challenges; reasons for fear, doubt, anxieties and worries. We can not but worry when we focus too much on our needs and aspirations instead of focusing on God. There are certain things not under the control of man. No one can tell what will happen tomorrow because tomorrow is not under our control, even the present moment. It is therefore foolish to be anxious of things that belong to tomorrow and not trusting and relying on God who owns tomorrow.
St. Peter quoted our focal text from Psalm 52: 22 to encourage Christians who were suffering persecutions and passing through difficulties. His message was on humility as we can see at the 6th verse: “Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God”. Verse 7 hereby suggest that true humility before God is total dependence on Him and not being anxious for anything. It is when we genuinely depend on God that we are humble.
Beloved, we are to look beyond our challenges and look only unto God. We are not to trouble ourselves with things or issues not under our control but commit such into the hands of God. Worries and anxieties are strategies of Satan to distract and distant us from God, to ruin our faith in Him and make us live unhappily. Let us say no to him.
On the other hand, let us cast our cares on God for He cares for us. God loves us. He is patiently waiting with open hands to embrace us and lift those burdens off us if only we trust and cast our cares upon Him.
