“And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah; and he said to Laban, what is this thou has done unto me? Did not I serve with thee for Rachel? Wherefore then has then beguiled me?” (Gen 29:25)
Bible Reading: Gen. 29: 25-30 & 2Thess. 3:2.
The spirit of Laban: insincerity, deceit, pretense and lies is rife in our communities, organisations and institutions today! Truth and honest dealing are gradually becoming things of the past. People are becoming more and more unfaithful in their dealings with others. There are lots of deceptions in relationships. You hardly know who is who. Close allies, relations, friends and business partners are the worse for it. Too many folks have lost their positions, jobs, and business in the hands of Labans of this world.
In our Bible reading, Jacob served Laban for seven years purposely for him to marry Rachel, that was their bargain, but deceitfully Laban changed it to Leah and gave him the condition of serving for another seven years if he truly loved and wanted to marry Rachel.
Dear Brothers & Sisters, be careful, tactful and prayerful in your dealing with people. There are many Labans around, it is not written on the face. Only God can reveal to you the schemes of Labans around you, therefore, pray daily for the spirit of discernment. Also let your confidence for success in your endeavour, rest not on your strength or people but on God who can save you from Labans of this world.
My prayer for you is that God will deliver you from the hands of Labans of today. He will endow you with the spirit of wisdom, discernment and knowledge to identify every Laban dressed in cassocks or soutanes in Jesus name.
