“And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha Cumi; which is being interpreted Damsel, I say unto thee, arise And straightway the damsel arose, and walked for she was of age of twelve years. And they were astonished with great astonishment” (Mark 5:41-42).
Many a times we are faced with situations which instead of getting better grew worse. At such point, one become confused and hope become hopelessness. This was the position of Jairus whose damsel was sick and the sickness instead of getting better grown worse that at the end the damsel died. Those around Jairus lost hope that they advised him not to trouble Jesus for any intervention because the situation had already become irreparable. What Jairus had, others didn’t; he had faith while others derided Jesus when he said the girl was only sleeping, he didn’t, and rather, he believed no situation is above Jesus.
His faith prompted Jesus to speak with authority to the dead girl, death had to take off his hold and life came back to the girl, this, to the astonishment of those present.
Dear brothers/sisters, when you are faced with situations that bring you headache and despair, when you are at a cross road where all your efforts to salvage your deteriorating condition avail to nothing; when your condition, instead of getting better go worse; when you are at point of no return, look unto Jesus He will hold your hand and lift you up out of your egregious condition. When you have Jesus as your companion, you will never walk alone.
